Anzac Day Field of Remembrance – Canterbury 2017 – 360° VR Video
These crosses in Cranmer Square, Christchurch remember the sacrifice New Zealand men and women made during the First World War. Each cross has the name of a New Zealander from the Canterbury region who lost their life in the war.
A Flanders Poppy is planted in front of each cross. From its association with poppies flowering in the spring of 1915 on the battlefields of Belgium, France and Gallipoli this vivid red flower has become synonymous with great loss of life in war.
